DCF Policy Regarding Human Subject Research

OVERVIEW
As with many of our fellow state agencies, we here at Children and Families interact with Floridians every day. At times, programs will have the occasion to interact with individuals and/or families through research projects that are designed to develop or contribute to general scientific knowledge.

The Department of Children and Families developed Operating Procedure CFOP 215-8 - OVERSIGHT OF HUMAN SUBJECT RESEARCH AND INSTITUTIONAL REVIEW BOARD DESIGNATION to clarify how and when research using human subjects who are in the Department's areas of responsibility (including employees as well as clients) can occur.

EDUCATION/TRAINING
All investigators and key study personnel must complete initial and continuing education in human research protections annually. Training is available FREE at the National Institutes of Health, Office of Extramural Research web site.
