Robert Edelman is the CEO and Clinical Director of the Village Counseling Center in Gainesville, Florida. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Juvenile Sexual Offender Therapist. He began providing services for children and adolescents with sexual behavior problems in 1994 and has directed inpatient, outpatient and day treatment programs for children with sexual behavior problems (SBP) and adolescent sexual offenders. He is the clinical director for the VCC Sexual Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) Program which has provided evaluations and treatment for hundreds of children and adolescents with sexual behavior problems.
He is a contracted provider with the Department of Children and Families, Department of Juvenile Justice, Partnership for Strong Families as well as other community-based mental health agencies.
Robert is also the founding and current chairperson for the Child-on-Child Sexual Abuse Prevention (COCSAP) Task Force which is a multidisciplinary team in North Florida focused on reducing the prevalence of child-on-child sexual abuse through community prevention, training and intervention. Robert has presented both state-wide and nationally on topics related to child-on-child sexual abuse and children with sexual behavior problems.
