Member Bio

Betty Busbee

Ms. Busbee is a former member and two-time chair of the Florida Statewide Advocacy Council, and authored the Council's Psychotropic Drug Red Item report. She also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Advocacy Center for Persons with Disabilities and served as a team leader for the Center's work on investigating and monitoring Mental Health and Developmental Disability residential facilities. Ms. Busbee's career has included experience in public relations and teaching, and she is a former state employee (HRS/DCF). Prior to retirement, she served as DCF Consumer Relations Coordinator for seven counties. In this position, Ms. Busbee supervised a unit which investigated complaints about agency services, provided staff support to local advocacy committees, analyzed problems, and made recommendations for improving the service delivery system. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the Community Based Care agency for a five-county area and is active in various community organizations.
