Task Force on Fostering Success
Mission of the Task Force
The Task Force was established in July 2007, by then Secretary Bob Butterworth, to examine the gaps that existed in Florida’s child protection system. The work of the original Task Force has resulted in significant changes in the joint efforts of the Department and its community partners in protecting Florida’s children.
In 2008, Secretary George Sheldon expanded the scope of the Task Force and appointed Butterworth as chairman. The new Task Force will promote the integration of mental health and substance abuse services into child welfare, promote information sharing between agencies and service providers and continue to identify gaps in Florida’s child protection system which can be corrected by legislative, policy or procedural changes.
