Legislative Update

The Department's reorganization bill completed its journey through the 2007 Legislative Session last week, passing unanimously on the House floor Friday afternoon. The bill, sponsored by Senator Ronda Storms of Brandon, tracked successfully throughout Session, first passing unanimously in the Senate Children, Families and Elder Affairs committee two weeks ago and then traveling to the Senate Health and Human Services Appropriations committee where again, it was unanimously passed and cleared to proceed to the Senate floor. On Friday, April 27 the bill was presented to the entire Senate and passed clearing the path to head to the Florida House for consideration. Just prior to "Sine Die" Friday, May 4 the bill passed the House and will now make its way to the desk of Governor Crist for final signature into law.
