Barahona death to spur Florida child protection overhaul
An independent panel and state welfare workers assigned to craft dramatic reforms to the state's child protection system - after the Barahona case debacle - have been given until September to finish their plan. At the first meeting of the Child Protection Improvement Advisory Board, Department of Children and Families Secretary David Wilkins gave the panel until Sept. 30 to draft an overhaul.
