Florida Youth Leadership Academy Kicks Off its 2012 Program

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – he Florida Youth Leadership Academy, made up entirely of current and former foster youth, kicks off its 2012 program this week in Tallahassee.

The 22 young men and women chosen as the fifth class of the leadership academy will spend Wednesday through Friday with leadership from the Department of Children and Families as they learn about the legislative process, spend a day touring the Capitol and meet with state legislators.

The members were invited by the Florida Youth Commission to participate in a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday afternoon.

The Florida Youth Leadership Academy focuses on leadership and advocacy skills to help engage former foster youth in business, government and education.
