Children and Families Employees Garner 95 Davis Productivity Awards
~ Children and Families tops all other state agency competitors ~

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. - Florida Department of Children and Families Secretary Bob Butterworth concluded Public Employee Recognition Week today by honoring the thousands of Department employees responsible for the agency's 95 Davis Productivity Awards this year. The Department leads all state agencies in the number of awards received with a total of 95 awards. Seventy-eight staff members received cash awards totaling $9,000 for their efforts.

"Thousands of Department professionals were nominated for their creative ideas and their dedication to the people of Florida," said Secretary Butterworth. "Their outstanding efforts demonstrate not only their skill and innovation, but the passion they have for improving how we serve Florida's children and families."

Department staff were recognized for streamlining services to beneficiaries of public assistance, improving the timeframes for commencing adult protective investigations, shortening the timeframes a child spends in the state's foster care system before finding a permanent placement, and producing fraud reduction and deterrent measures to improve security. Many of the awards presented to Department staff members were for improvements in direct customer service, a major focus of the current administration. Employees were recognized for streamlining application processing and designing multiple automated training programs and guides for clients and staff in order to better understand Department processes.

The Davis Productivity Awards program, presented by Prudential Financial, is a public-private initiative chaired by Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp and sponsored by Florida Taxwatch, The Florida Council of 100 and the State of Florida. The Davis Productivity Awards were developed in 1989 to commend all state employees, teams, work units, partnerships and agencies that clearly exceed performance expectations and job descriptions in ways that improve service delivery and save money for the Florida taxpayers and businesses.
