Credential Training Program
Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC)," pursuant to Section 402.305(3)(b), F.S., is a department approved training program that consists of a minimum of 120 hours of early childhood instruction, 480 contact hours with children ages birth through eight (8) and at least two (2) methods of formal assessment that offers two (2) areas of certification; "Birth Through Five (formerly the department approved CDA Equivalency training programs)" and "School-Age (formerly the Florida School-Age Certification)." A list of approved and recognized FCCPC programs may be obtained through the Staff Credential page.
The Florida Child Care Credential program was developed to offer more availability and accessibility of training programs to meet the diverse needs of child care providers throughout the state. The Florida Child Care Credential is recognized in the State of Florida. The Florida Child Care Credential certificate can be obtained by attending and graduating from an approved Florida Child Care Credential training program listed on the Staff Credential page.
Florida Child Care Credential Program Provider Application
New Applicants:
The Department of Children and Families accepts applications
from established training programs applying for recognition
as a Florida Child Care Credential Training Provider in January, March, June and
September. Each application is reviewed by a team of subject
matter experts who will review and submit ratings and comments
to the Department of Children and Families for final
determination. The ratings and comments of Florida Child Care Credential application
reviewers are critical considerations in making final decisions.
Upon final decision, applicants are approved for designation
as a Florida Childcare Credential Training program provider, provided with recommendations
and given an opportunity to resubmit with clarifications or
changes, or are denied Florida Childcare Credential Training Program Provider status.
**Allow 3-4 months for processing and notification.
Birth through Five Credential Provider Application:
Download the
Birth through Five Credential Training Program Application,
CF-FSP 5191, March 2009, to apply. Submit five (5) copies of
the completed application and all supporting documentation to
the address below. All supporting documentation utilized during
the review process should not have identifying applicant
information to ensure accountability with the process.
School-Age Credential Provider Application:

CF-FSP 5257, March 2009, to apply. Submit five (5) copies of the
completed application and all supporting documentation to the
address below. All supporting documentation utilized during the
review process must not identify applicant. This is to ensure
a non-bias review by peers.
Please note - Applications are accepted in January, March, June and September, based on the date received in the office.

application above and submit 1 copy along with any revised supporting
documentation to the address above.
Florida Child Care Credential Program Requirement of Accreditation or Licensure
The Florida Child Care Credential Training Provider approved prior to February 2006, Program must provide proof of one of the following below when there is a change in sponsorship, programming or a new application is submitted. For new applications, accreditation or licensure must be verified before review process will commence. The training program cannot be merely sponsored by another licensed or accredited institution. Each training program must hold independent licensure or accreditation as described below

- Institutions must contact individual accrediting bodies to determine process and timeline
- Both degree and non-degree granting institutions are allowed to apply
