Florida's State and Local Prevention and Permanency Plans

Florida Child Abuse Prevention and Permanency Plan:
July 2010 through June 2015

The central focus of the Florida Child Abuse Prevention and Permanency Plan: July 2010 – June 2015 is to build resilience in all of Florida’s families and communities in order to equip them to better care for and nurture their children. In accordance with the State law (§39.001, Florida Statutes), this five-year prevention and permanency plan provides for the prevention of child abuse, abandonment and neglect; promotion of adoption; and for the support of adoptive families.

Florida Child Abuse Prevention and Permanency Plan:
January 2009 through June 2010

In accordance with state law (§39.001, Florida Statutes), the 18-month Florida Child Abuse Prevention and Permanency Plan: January 2009 – June 2010 provided plans of action for the prevention of child abuse, abandonment and neglect; promotion of adoption; and for the support of adoptive families. This plan reflected Florida’s commitment to engage state agencies and local communities in a collaborative effort to prevent child abuse, abandonment and neglect; promote adoption; and support our adoptive families.

Governor’s Office of Adoption and Child Protection Reports

The Governor’s Office of Adoption and Child Protection, within the Executive Office of the Governor, implements and monitors a comprehensive statewide approach for the promotion of adoption, support of adoptive families and prevention of child abuse, abandonment and neglect. The office also administers and staffs the Child Abuse Prevention and Permanency Advisory Council, the Florida Children and Youth Cabinet and Florida’s EMMY and ADDY award winning Explore Adoption public awareness campaign.

Contact Information

The Child Abuse Prevention and Permanency Advisory Council and workgroups, with input from 20 local planning teams, involving over 600 individuals from across Florida, diligently constructed proposals for the selection of realistic low- or no- cost prevention and permanency strategies for our state. The State Objective Leadership document provides the statewide objectives, those leading the objective, and their contact information. At the local level the Local Planning Team Conveners, along with their local teams created their own five-year plans to prevent child maltreatment, promote adoption, and support adoptive families. Over 750 individuals statewide provided input on the state and local plans.
