The cornerstone of the mental health service delivery system throughout the state is the belief in individual recovery, consumer directed care, and the resiliency of children, adults, and family members. This website offers information about the various components of the Mental Health Program Office, the State’s mental health authority.

Here you will find information about:

Central Office staff includes members of all service components. Program staff for adult and children’s services is also located in 20 Circuit/Regional Mental Health Program Offices across the state.

Our stories of hope, recovery and resiliency are on the air again, brought back by popular demand by the citizens we serve. We have packaged all of the stories with one link under the Office of Consumer and Family Affairs link. These are powerful personal stories of real people dealing with substance abuse and mental health issues. Many of you have told us you use them for that extra “get up and get going” attitude and approach to daily living.

Harry Harrington talks about coming back to work in the same facility in which he was a patient and states he plans to stay there because part of his recovery is fiving back to others. We believe him; he just celebrated his 12th anniversary as a full time employee. Elizabeth shares her early onset of severe trauma and how she deals with it by helping people with substance abuse problems find homes in her community. David tells us about his early years of making bad decisions until he was Baker Acted. He went back to school, took his Masters and now works full time as crisis counselor for Disability Rights Florida. David, also, has his own prison faith based program, which takes him back into prisons and jails. Paul and Irma share their trials and tribulations while he was in prison. Diann shares her story of moving from a life of misery and sorrow to one of happiness, success and hope. She is now employed as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist and trainer for a large mental health provider. She was recently elected the Chair Person of PAIMI; the state’s federal rights Board for mental health.

This effort required the love, effort and partnership of several of the Department’s staff and we are very happy to bring these examples of success to you. Look for new stories as they are produced.
